So it has been a day to day year”の意味がよく判らなかったので浅古さんに聞きました:
 “いろいろなことが予想外に次から次へ降りかかってくるので、行き当たりばったりに、その場の対応をせざるを得ないような、
  その日を何とか乗り切るというスタンスの年だった”との事です。

Good morning Mr. Negishi,

Thank you for writing and inquiring. Presently, several of our schools are out due to a quarantine. Beginning on Monday, December 7th, we will be completely remote and no longer will have in-person learning. Students will be remote until January 19th at which time we will return to in-person learning.

The number of cases is quite high and continue to increase in number. The district feels it is best to move to remote learning at this time. We will need to wait for our next correspondence until we return in January.

Since we opened, we have had a number of issues related to quarantining which included some of our staff and me. So it has been a day to day year.

Wishing you well and hope you have a very Happy New Year!
With friendship,

Dear Ms. Jill Lindsay,
I hope you are doing well.
A couple days ago, I saw a newspaper article of The Washington Post which said that in New York schools reopened for special education and younger grade.
I suppose that means in New York schools are closed.

As New York is your neighboring state, I ask you how about at your school.
You informed me in your e-mail of October 20 that the children returned to in-person learning today for the first time.
I hope your school keeps open.

At Ryokuen Higashi Elementary school (RHES in short), the children are having classes as usual.
They had an athletic meeting and school excursion already but in other schools they may shorten or omit school activities such as music recital or athletic meeting.

This is an information from Ms. Eriko Soejima.
Looking forward to hearing from you and best regards,
   Negishi

Mr. Art Murray
Zoom meeting

Dear Fuminobu san,
It was great seeing and talking to you again. Once we were able to hear one another I really enjoyed the conversation.

Yes, the situation in New Jersey is serious too. We now have 102 cases in Fair Lawn. I work at the Fair Lawn Library, and I received word today that the library is closing again. We have been open since early August, so this was disappointing news. But the virus is spreading throughout our country  and, just as in Japan, the next three weeks will be critical.

I am sure you will hear from Ms. Lindsay soon. At the moment schools are conducting classes entirely online, but I am sure she will answer her email. If you do not hear from her, please let me know and we will get in touch with Ms. Lindsay for you.

Stay well, my friend, and I hope we will get to see each other again soon.
Yours,
Art

Dear Fuminobu san,
Thanksgiving was quiet but enjoyable this year. The pandemic is on fire here in the US,so everyone was advised to stay home, if possible. Nonetheless, the airline industry reported that more people were flying during the holidays this than at any time in the last two years. So were mericans listening to the good advice of medical experts? Maybe not. But I was listening.

The attachment to your email was very interesting. I am sorry to hear that Japan is still having so many issues with COVID-19. I hope the vaccine will be available soon.

We will speak on Monday. I will send you the Zoom link over the weekend.
See you soon,Art

Hello Negishi-san,

Thank you for the Radburn School update.  We hope our schools will reopen soon, as the risk to young people is very low. It is the influence of the Teachers' Union that is keeping them closed.

I totally agree with you that Self-controlled behavior is the key to defeating this virus.  A crippled economy actually does more damage than the virus itself.

Please stay well and give my best regards to all.

Warm regards,
Jeff

Dear Fuminobu san,

The 30th sounds perfect. I will set a time.
I am not sure what wave we are in here, but the virus is out of control again. This week we had 2,000 people die from COVED-19 in one day. And the President still isnt doing anything.

I hope the vaccine works and is available soon. Both Japan and the United States seem to need it.
See you soon,
Art

Mr. Negishi,
I wanted to let you know that the children returned today for the first time to in-person learning.
I will provide them with the letters you sent and we will prepare return letters shortly. I will advise when they are on the way.

I hope all are well and staying safe.
Sincerely,
Jill Lindsay
